The IJN Mutsu and her sister ship the IJN Nagato along with five other battleships, 4 carriers, 2 light carriers, and fifty plus support ships comprised the Main Body of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto's invasion force during the Battle of Midway in June 1942.
